It happens because in short story, the author uses the simple words on to fulfill with the daily conversation

1. Short story which has total words at generally under good and max 5000 words, an could be read in 15 – 20 minutes.
2. Long story is kind of story that that has total number of words between 5000 until 10000 words or 32 pages it could be read in 60 – 75 minutes.

But as a teacher we should be able to choose a short story that does not contain many idiomatic expressions in order to avoid the students checking the idiomatic expressions into dictionary”

In studying comprehension of short story the students must know about the kind or literary work and characteristics of short story. Short story as a literary work not only as literary story but also as a solace which is enjoyed by many people in the world, especially in Indonesia.
Most of people in the world are enjoying reading as kind of fiction young people particularly like short story.

It happens because in short story, the author uses the simple words on to fulfill with the daily conversation. In writing synopsis of short story, the students should know how to make the content of the resume of the main point composition. In this case, the first step that students have to learn is to understand the story, either in implicitly or explicitly, if the students want to know how to make synopsis, they should be able to find out the meaning of the sentences of paragraph literary and the teaching behind the text. If they are able to comprehend the test or short story, they are automatically catching the idea of the short story.
Raimes said, “writing a synopsis of short story reinforces the students to use the aspect of language skills including structure, idiom and vocabulary which they have studied. But as a teacher we should be able to choose a short story that does not contain many idiomatic expressions in order to avoid the students checking the idiomatic expressions into dictionary” (Raimes, 1993:4) it means that as a teacher we must select the words or the content of the text carefully. We have to make a decision whether the short story is appropriate or not to be given to the students.
